Last week, Edgewood College sent a message to its students in reaction to U.S. President Trump’s immigration policy changes. As an international student in the United States, it’s important that you heed these travel warnings:
- Carry your F-1 or J-1 visa documents with you whenever you are traveling, including within the United States.
- If you travel outside of the U.S., you should first research if your travel destination is one of the targeted countries by Trump’s travel ban,
- If you are from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Libya, and if you only have one semester or two semesters to complete before graduation, it might be wise NOT to travel outside of the U.S. until you finish your degree.

Trump has caused pain for international students from Muslim countries. Maybe, Trump is so ignorant about other countries, especially Muslim countries.
We are still watching Trump’s immigration policy changes very closely. We think Trump’s new immigration policy has a lot to do with his presidential campaign promise – “Make America Great Again.” To international students and foreigners, Trump’s policy is not so friendly. However, many Americans love Trump for what he had done in one month after his inauguration. After all, just like CNBC said “Trump is simply not an ideological Republican, Democrat, or really anything else with an existing political label.”
