Are you interested in serving in the U.S. military? Check this out. The message blow is excerpted from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Military Options for International Students
International students interested in serving in the military may be eligible for a program called Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI). This program allows certain non-citizens who are legally present in the United States and hold critical skills to join the U.S. military. People with critical skills, including physicians, nurses, and experts in certain languages with associated cultural backgrounds, are in great demand.
To apply, students should work with their designated school official (DSO) to understand requirements and complete required forms.
DSOs can use our MAVNI resource page to learn how to handle situations, like if a MAVNI participant leaves basic training to return to school or when to terminate their Student and Exchange Visitor Information Systemrecord. Download a MAVNI guide for DSOs to learn which students can apply.
Below, we compiled info for five U.S. government-run academies. Check out the eligibility pages to see if you can apply for their programs.

Do you know if international students pay the same tuition as American students?
Please use keywords “Tuition and Fees” or “Cost of Attendance” when you search for the costs for international students. For example, on the website of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, it indicates that all the cost of attendance of an American student is paid by the U.S. government. However, “Before an international cadet is enrolled at the Academy, the sponsoring country must agree to reimburse the U.S. Coast Guard for the cost of instruction. The cost of instruction for cadets is approximately $97,000 per year. Countries not listed on the World Bank List would be eligible for partial tuition costs of approximately $24,000 annually. This cost is reviewed and revised on an annual basis. In addition to the cost of instruction, all incoming international cadets are required to pay an initial deposit of $3,000. This deposit helps offset the cost of a laptop computer, uniforms, and other issued items.”
Never thought this is a possibility. Thanks for the info.
We are glad that we can help.
